Course description.
This course introduces the fundamental principles of creative behavior. Theoretical and practical methods of problem-solving as well as discovery, evaluation, and implementation of new ideas. This is NOT an art class.
This course is open to all majors, university-wide and does not have pre-requisites. 3 credits.
About This Course.
This course is designed to explore the nature of creativity, creative thinking and problem solving. We will look at theorists, famous artists, innovators, scientists, and marketing practitioners from around the world to see how the influence and principles of creative thinking can be used as tools to develop successful strategies, innovate, and solve business problems. Additionally, the course will familiarize you with the nature of creativity, both as an inherent human activity and a potential to be nurtured and developed.

After passing this course, all students should be able to:
• Describe your own creative process to generate a stream of ideas
• Understand a range of creative techniques
• Explain how to develop solutions with a high degree of innovation, creative thinking, and risk
taking
• List and outline creative theories and practice
• Demonstrate critical thinking and problem solving/research skills
• Evaluating your own ideas as well as the work of others
• Identify creativity and interconnectedness of the arts, business, and society
